Produce reviews for UK films.

Before i write two film reviews i need to do some research on existing ones and find out how i'm supposed to structure and write them.

I found many reviews on websites such as

I will use these as examples when writing my own review. Things i need to include...
  • Genre
  • Target Audience
  • Actors
  • Personal opinion
  • Director/producer
  • Details
  • Narrative
  • Representation

The films i decided to do reviews on are films i have watched recently. They are both big star hollywood films however they are very different from each other. The reason i chose these is because they are very different in genre, and shots. Not only this but i have seen both of them recently so it will help when reviewing them. There arent many English films that have come out recently that have been much of interest to me.
The Lucky one
Limitless
The Lucky One Review.

For a romantic drama like The Lucky One you'd expect something quite cliche and predictable. This film is about a solider in a war who finds a mystery photo of a woman. On the reverse of the image it says 'Keep Safe x'. Straight after this there is a massive explosion and he survives. The story is all about him finding this mystery woman who he believes is keeping him safe. It's about his journey finding this woman and them eventually falling in love with each other. However there are a few obstacles such as her ex and her son. He becomes very friendly with her son and there is nothing stopping them, he does everything to convience her he's worth the risk.
The target audience for this film would be teenage/young females. The main character Logan, played by Zac efron, started off in a children's film called 'My school musical' he has since then grown up and featured in more mature films such as 17 Again. The reason he suits this film is because it will easily draw in a big audience as he has lots of fans who show lots of support for his work.
A director and their experience is vital for a film. In this case the director is Scott Hicks and it was produced by Denise Di Novi and Kevin McCormick. Scott Hicks is a movie director from Australia, he is best known for his screen writing of Shine. Shine got nominated and won many awards including Academy Award for Actor in a Leading Role, Satellite Award for Best Actor, Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor. Other films he has directed include The boys are back, A portrait of phillip in twelve parts and no reservations.

The main character Logan is represented as a strong man who knows what he wants and will do anything to pass his mission. Finding this mystery woman is almost a mission to him as he walks miles to a different state to talk to this woman. Even though the storyline is rather predictable you still cannot take your eyes off the screen. Your in suspense to find out what happens next. You want them to get together.

Limitless Review.

Limitless is an action adventure film based on the theory of taking medication to make you smarter. As a rom-com lover i didn't have a clue on what to expect. The main character Eddie starts taking this unidentified tablet which allows him to use 100% of his brain instead of the average 20% according to scientists. He does however start to go through complications until he realises when he runs out that he will die. He then has to fight people and make sure that he can make these tablets for himself. This means creating the substance over and over until he dies like any other human being. However this means that he has to remain taking them for the rest of his life which causes complications in itself.

This film features a lot of famous actors including Bradly Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert Deniro. This means that the actors fan base would already be quite large increasing the potential audience for the movie. I believe this film is target at males 20-25 middle class. This is because it features these actors and it is a rather manly subject. Even though females are likely to like it is it considered a masculine subject.

Main character Eddie was shown as a scrubby writer with no life or potential until this tablet magically fixed him and he was the best person he could be. He started getting rich, popular and he looked a lot better in himself until there were problems starting to occur and he couldn't overcome them. It eventually causes him to go into violence going against the 'bad guys' who are trying to take his supply.

The director of this film Neil Burger is an American film director. He has also worked on films such as The Illusionist, Unchanted, The lucky ones and Interview With The Assassin.
This film was released in 2011 has a running time of 105 mintues and had a budget of $27 Million. It was filmed and produced in the United States.
As an English female of 17 years old, i enjoyed this film. However there were parts that didn't make much sense to me but this was probably because it was designed and made for the more mature. I would give this film 4 stars, it was fun kept me watching but i got confused in sections and i didn't enjoy being confused.
