The basic storyline will be about the riots, people loosing their personal property and even family members. There will be 4 main stories running in this film. All running along the same time eventually causing the actors to meet. Individual stories come together to make one big issue.

Old man shop broken into. (group of boys brake into his shop)
A group of young boys, arguing about what to do (peer pressure).
Policeman (turns out to be girlfriends father).
The location we will be using is central and south london.

Why is it distinctive to the UK?
The reason it would be distinctive to the UK would be the use of location. There will be certain things captured within the film which are obviously related to London for example a red bus or black taxi. You will also see London in the background. Not only this but the use of characters and the way they are styled and portrayed is very british. For example using British branded clothing.

Making my own UK film.

I have to create a UK film based on an event, book or cartoon character. I have chosen to do my movie on the london riots. This is becuase its a recent event that meant a lot to our country. It shows all the fustration we have with our country and the society we now live in.

To find out about the london riots we have various different sources. Internet, News and news app's. This is a clip from BBC news at the event of the riots. From viewing the clip you can clearly see how bad they got, with people pushing the camera, smashing up the police car and getting mad for no reason. This is when the police and emergancy force realised the extent to which our country is in now.

The reason i think the London riots would be a good idea to base my film on would be because it's very english, dramatic and different to whats already out there. I visulise this as a film that switches from scene to scene involving actors that tell a story, a real story. Not only this but you see police aswell, they also act out what really happened. It would be made into a dramatic action showing all sides to the same story in hope it will help to show people what was really happening and why it was happening.
This would be a part of social realism. This means making something socially acceptable as realistic even if it's not. Verisimilitude is the appearence of something being true to life. This is exactly how i want my film to be shown.
The target audience i would choose is 18-25 male students/middle class. This is because it was the main people involved in the tradgady. I would base the theme around the same way as previous films i have seen such as Kidulthood, Adulthood and Anuvahood.
In these films you can clearly see the other side of london from what you usually are shown as the royal, respected side. Adulthood is more serious than Anuvahood but i looked at them to get a better a understanding of the film industry and what sells well.

Anuvahood is directed by Adam Deacon. He is also the main character in the film.

This film is considered an english comedy taking the mick out of london and how people are that are brought up. The main character is made out to be really dumb when infact he probably isn't. It is funny because no matter how much we dont want to believe it parts of it actually are realistic. He thinks he is 'cool' and the world revolves around him.
The music featured in this is 'street music' from people off the streets that have become famous out of their music. This is what adam deacon (the main character) is trying to do throughout the film.

Adulthood was written and directed by Noel Clark. He is also featured in the film.

In this film Adulthood, it shows a rough city but in a different way from anuvahood. People trying to grow up but the struggle of doing so through the pain and lifes that they set up for themselves. No matter what they try to do too fix their lifes they always seem to be getting themselves into trouble even if they didnt intentionally mean to.

I want to represent London as it truely is, this means showing the bad side but also showing the good and proud side. This is because we don't want to give a bias idea of our city and show that we're bad or good as we are neither. It depends on your own personal opinion. As it was shown all over the internet and online i cannot legally use any of their footage without permission. If i want to use it i have to go through all the legal papers before downloading it. However i will be recording my own and making my own interpretations on the situation and what happens but using their work as an influence.

At the time of the riots there was a lot of conflict about racial issues as many people were blaming the blacks and Asians for ruining London so this issue will also have to be approached in the right way, i cannot be racist or show any unfair ratios of blacks and whites.

The basic storyline will be about the riots, people loosing their personal property and even family members. There will be 4 main stories running in this film. All running along the same time eventually causing the actors to meet. Individual stories come together to make one big issue.
Young girl and criminal boyfriend (in the group).
Old man shop broken into. (group of boys brake into his shop)
A group of young boys, arguing about what to do (peer pressure).
Policeman (turns out to be girlfriends father).
The location we will be using is central and south london.
Budgets.
Below-the-line is a term that refers to the list of individuals who perform the physical production of a given film, the post-production work and all of the related expenditures. These positions include but are not limited to the following:
Above-the-line is a term that refers to the list of individuals who guide, influence and hopefully add to the creative direction, process and voice of a given narrative in a film and their related expenditures. These roles include but are not limited to the screenwriter, producer, director, casting director and actors.

The overall budget for the film Kidulthood was £600,00. This means we will need a similar budget, i can tell this because of the locations and production is similar to one that i will need for my own film. The average film budget in england is £500,00. I will also have to take into account promotion, making sure that it is promoted well enough. If i was to have a well known actor/actress in my film then it automatically would get more views. There is also something called 'microwave' film production this is where a company make a film for under £100,00.00 this would be a good thing for me to try because I wont need as much money.

I began to write my own budget sheet keeping everything to a minimum.

BFI film industry

The BFI is a film industry company that help you fund your film or programme.

'The BFI was founded in 1933. We are a charity governed by a Royal Charter. We combine cultural, creative and industrial roles, bringing together the BFI National Archive and BFI Library, film distribution and exhibition, publishing and festivals. We award Lottery funding to film production, distribution, education, audience development and market intelligence and research.'

BBC Films

The bbc film industry have funded many films including street dance 2, fish tank & street dance 3D. They produce/co-produce around 8 films a year.
Here are two examples of films that the BBC have been apart of.

Where does the money come from?
I could get this money from funding such as national lottery, sponsors, funding bodies or a loan. On this website (http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/) it shows you all the wonderful things the National Lottery has funded for. You can also vote for your favourite project inorder for them to get more funding. To get the funding you have to fill out loads of forms and have a very valid reason for wanting to have their money. If they then think it will in some way benifit the local comunity or a significant amount of people then they may give it to you.
Sponsors can be any kind of brand. It means that on your DVD's and in the cinemas you will have to advertise their product or througout the film. It is also sometimes known as Product placement.
For example a type of sponsorship can be found on the edge of a football pitch.

Production Schedule.

To film my movie i will need all the camera equpiment and the staff. One way i can do this is by going through a filming production team. It would be one of the easiest ways. I will however have to pitch all my ideas and get them to think my ideas a good one. I need to have a clear idea of timings, costing and locations. Not only this but i need to start getting a cast together.
My role will be to produce the movie, making sure everything is going to plan and also directing the scenes with help from professional cameramen. I will have a whole crew behind me helping at all times on all locations. Not only amediate crew will be needed but runners will also be needed to do small jobs that become rather important at the end of the day.
Dragonfly are a well known production company based in london. http://www.dragonflyproductions.co.uk/

I think SBTV would be a good choice for my company because of their background and how they came about. The owner was brought up in london, started off with a small digital camera and worked his way up. He is now one of the most well known digital companies in london. I first heard of them when i saw the google crome advert. I was influenced by his work and how he is who he is today by hard work and dedication.

To film my film i will need about 3 months to do it however this doesnt include pre-production such as storyboards, full scripts and preparation. I will need 3 months to complete the filming because the majority will need to be done at night, we also need to get permission for every location we get. After this we will then need to get in some editors together to edit our work all together into one film lasting around 100 mintues.
If we were to start filming in august we should be finished with the final production in December. This is to allow us to have enough time incase of any emergancies.

We will look at actors like Channing Tatum and Liam Hensworth as a main character. This is because they are professional actors and it will broaden our audience profile. This will however bring up our costs by alot. If we spend more on getting a well known actor in then it is more likely we will make more money however we need the money to begin with.
If this fails we will get other actors in, ones that arent famous. The type that are trying to brake into the film industry, this is because they wont be very expensive. They may however need some experience.

I will start my filming in September, once funding, crew and actors were set up. If we cannot get the funding we will carry on trying to get it from somewhere. If i dont like the crew i will hire a new one, and i will have to interview the actors before signing any contracts with them.
If for some reason i cannot film in September then i will move it back however long it will be given that everyone else in the team is okay with that.

Horozontal and vertical intergation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmOFbk1aVbw

Vertical intergation is the combiation of more than one company coming together to make a product or produce something. This means that horozontal intergation is one company working on something by themselves.
An example of this would be two similar companies coming together to make a very good product. One that has recently been marketed is the new phone from intel and orange. Orange are good at producing phones and intel are good at creating super fast software. Orange San Diego review: Intel does phones, finally

Synopses.

A young girl called Lexi has got herself in the wrong crowd of people, rebelling against her father who has authority in the law being a police officer. Her boyfriend is the leader of a terrorising gang of five who hang out on the street corner of north road in Croydon.  Each day this group terrorise the corner shop owner with loud bass rap music and foul language sending away a lot of the corner shops customers.

Groups of young youths are rioting in the streets of Central London due to the up-roar of how badly the country is being run. Callum, the leader of the gang decides to follow everyone else in the looting of goods from stores, picking on the corner shop to start.

Jacob, one of the boys in the gang protests against smashing up the shop and rebels against Callum, leading to a fight. As Jacob tries to escape leading Jessica out the door, Callum pulls a gun out of the back of his jeans and points it at Jacob and fires a shot in Jacob’s right arm. Two police cars turn up outside the shop, blue lights flashing and pull Callum to the floor.

The policeman,(Lexi’s Dad) pulls Jessica into his car and calls out on his radio for an ambulance.

Callum is put in prison, and Jacob recovers in A+E.
